Wandering Buoy along the Berlin wall 2009

Between August 13th and November 9th (i.e. the day the Berlin Wall was erected and the day it came down) the Wandering Buoy circled Berlin stopping wherever stories were found connected to the Berlin Wall. We retold escape stories, stories of the guards, of protests, art actions and families torn apart.

Ein italienischer Mauerspecht

Ich bin in Rom geboren und habe noch bis vor 5 Jahren in Italien gewohnt. Als ich hörte, dass die Mauer gefallen war, war ich 18 Jahre alt. Ich fand das so toll, dass ich gleich für eine Woche nach Berlin gefahren bin, um als Mauerspecht zu helfen, die Mauer mit abzureißen. Als ich in Angola meinen deutschen Mann kennen lernte, war ich begeistert, dass er in Berlin wohnte. In Erinnerung an meine wunderbare Woche dort, bin ich gerne mit ihm in diese Stadt gezogen.
