Wandering Buoy along the Berlin wall 2009

Between August 13th and November 9th (i.e. the day the Berlin Wall was erected and the day it came down) the Wandering Buoy circled Berlin stopping wherever stories were found connected to the Berlin Wall. We retold escape stories, stories of the guards, of protests, art actions and families torn apart.

Pflichtbewusst über die Grenze

Am 09.11.89 war ich eine Freundin in Hohenschönhausen besuchen. In den Nachrichten hörte ich die durch Schabowski vorgelesene Erklärung. Meine Freundin wollte es nicht glauben. Also habe ich mir, pflichtbewusst wie man war, am nächsten Tag einen Stempel im Ausweis bei der Polizei abgeholt und bin dann zur Bornholmer Brücke. Ich musste circa 2 Stunden warten, dann kamen auch meine Schwester und eine Freundin aus Leipzig und wir sind zusammen rüber. Durch den Mauerfall hat sich viel verändert. Ich bin 3 Jahre in Paris gewesen und habe jetzt einen Wuppertaler zum Mann. Ich arbeite immer noch mit Franzosen in Berlin in einer Europaschule. Prima.
